This is true whether your own actions are the reason that person isn’t around, or if you’ve been ensnared in a seemingly never-ending “talking stage” and haven’t yet committed to each other in the first place. The feeling that if you were to go one more day without the person you want, you might actually combust in a fit of despair. Essentially, this is what’s at the core of most begging music, “U Got It Bad” included. Once a person is finally open to love, no matter how that readiness came to be, that’s when their greatest sense of romantic urgency hits. You got it bad when you’re out with someoneīut you keep on thinking ’bout somebody else You don’t wanna have fun, it’s all you think about Know you got it bad when you’re stuck in the house If you miss a day without your friend, your whole life’s off-track When you’re on the phone, hang up and you call right back For those of us lucky enough to have found love despite certain obstacles, the intense attachment in the following chorus is also relatable. “I’ve been there, done it, f**ked around/ After all that, this is what I found/ Nobody wants to be alone.” Plenty of big city daters have come to this realization at some point, and it didn’t take damaging a relationship to get there. For people who are truly ready for a serious relationship, as they yearn for a deeper connection than anyone on their current roster could give them, the song’s pre-chorus is especially powerful. Nothing will make you realize this faster than falling in love.Īs Usher describes finding someone who makes you want to forget your past and skip nights out with your crew, that sentiment could apply to the discovery of a new love just as much as the near loss of an old one. ![]() These things are fun until they’re suddenly boring. Being from New York myself, I feel like I’ve been to enough day parties, smoked enough hookah, and gone home with enough strangers for two lifetimes. If you live in a city with an infamously casual dating scene-New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, etc.-certain lyrics from the song’s opening verse and pre-chorus could speak to the exhaustion you’ve felt navigating the trappings of such areas. But the record could also be interpreted in another way. Within the context of the song’s lyrics, that clarity presumably comes after the consequences of cheating. Throughout much of “U Got It Bad,” Usher, supported by co-writers Brian Michael-Cox and Jermaine Dupri, sings of the clarity that comes with finding love. If you’re touched by the words in this song Said you act like you ready, but you don’t really knowĪnd everything in your past, you wanna let it go Makes you change your ways like hanging with your crew When you feel it in your body, you found somebody who Believe it or not, the lyrics of “U Got It Bad” fit this kind of head-over-heels, nose-wide-openness just as well. Instead, as a hopeful romantic (and a Cancer), most of my begging happens in courtship. This means I’ve never felt the desire to rekindle an extinguished flame. Every breakup I’ve experienced happened for reasons that had more to do with circumstance than any one person’s actions. Wood is being knocked on as I write this, but I’ve never messed up bad enough for a woman to want to leave me. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer to his sonic universe, this countdown promises to rekindle the nostalgia and admiration for the timeless classics that have made Usher an icon in the realm of contemporary music.See, I’m a very specific sort of simp. But appreciation shouldn’t be reserved for one day per year. We interpreted these messages as an opportunity to celebrate the efforts of leadership.Ĭlergy Appreciation Day, or what many refer to as Pastor’s Day is officially the Second Sunday in October. Several times in the Bible Paul mentions elders in the church being worthy of honor and high regard ( Timothy 1 5:17 and Thessalonians 1 5:12). The concept of appreciation for the clergy was seen in the Bible. The official name is Clergy Appreciation Day and it was created to thank the contributions of priests, pastors, reverends, and ministers. So go ahead, show your pastor how important they are to you. Just as corporate worship is important to the body of Christ, so might corporate thanksgiving be to the shepherd of the flock. However, the responsibility of those being served is to give thanks and recognize work done for their benefit. Why We Show Our Pastor AppreciationĪny individual in service to others is probably doing it from their heart and ministers would also say that it is a calling from God. So of course they don’t lead a congregation for the financial gain or the praise of men. This article shares a few pastor appreciation ideas that I’ve been involved in or have heard about. Beyond writing a thank you note, many churches get creative and plan events, thoughtful gifts, or presentations. Reminding the flock to show appreciation isn’t difficult but should be done on a regular basis.
